Glencree, Wicklow

Glencree is located approximately 10km west of Ennniskerry. In Glencree there are a number of visitors attractions aside from the fabulous forest walks _ (Part of the Wicklow Way Walk runs from here to Glencullen) such as St. Kevin’s reconciliation centre – the purpose of which is to encourage acceptance of people with different views so everyone can live in peace and harmony (isn’t that nice).

Alternatively you can visit the German Cemetery and pay your respects to the Germans who died serving in Ireland during the world wars. Hmm, Quite contrasting attractions to be sure!

For a fun place to stay & get cosy at the peat fire visit the Knockree hostel (a 5 star Wicklow Way Hostel) which is tranquilly situated with superb views of Glencree and the mountains that ring it. For details contact Kevin on +353 1 2864036

This hostel is an An Oige hostel (Irish Youth Hostel Association ) I love to stay here and snooze in front of the fire listening to the humans talk excitedly about their day whilst I dream of chasing rabbits over the Glencree hills.

Mmm.zzzz I do believe its about time I headed off there again.
